Kitsons Technical Supplies are a key part of the SIG UK business, who have passed the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) Assessment for Merchants and Distributors, enhancing customer confidence through their accurate product representation and contributing to raising product information standards across the whole construction industry.

Kitsons are a specialist technical product and insulation distributor who understand the importance of product information clarity & compliance especially within regulated industries. As part of SIG UK, Kitsons have expertise in specialisms like Industrial, HVAC, High Temperature and Fire Protection and recognise their customers need assurance that they are getting the correct product, for their specific requirements. Working with distributors who hold the CCPI Assessment Mark provides buyers with greater confidence when making these purchasing decisions.

Kitsons’ products are highly specialised and technical therefore by having them CCPI assessed ensures complete clarity and ease for customers who need high technical solutions and information fast.

The CCPI was created to improve the transparency of construction product information through clear, accurate, accessible, up-to-date and unambiguous descriptions. Therefore, enabling merchants, distributors, contractors and suppliers to make more informed decisions when selecting products.

There are three separate codes within the CCPI. The code for Merchants and Distributors is specific to the company and its systems and includes four clauses. Clauses 1-3 highlights the importance of accurately representing data when reproducing and updating the manufacturer’s product information. Clause 4 addresses the competency of individuals in these roles, ensuring that full training programme is in place.

The other codes include a Manufacturers version, focusing on the responsibility of product information and relates specifically to the assessment of product information and another for Supporters, which includes clients such as major house builders and Tier-One contractors, who are driving the principles of the CCPI through their supply chains. To fully understand the Merchant and Distributor Code, it is recommended that applicants familiarise themselves with all three versions.

When organisations meet the requirements as set out in the CCPI Merchants and Distributors Code Version, it confirms that they have the necessary product information processes and systems in place to uphold the standards and values of the CCPI. Further, whilst meticulously adhering to these clauses, they will also actively promote and support the adoption of the Code with their suppliers.

Commenting on the assessment, Kitsons Technical Supplies Sales Director Shaun Byrne said: “We are proud to be at the forefront of change in the construction industry and understand how this will contribute to the raising of industry standards. Insisting on accurate product information will help our customers make better choices. Our brand is built on trust and by passing this assessment, we’re further cementing that trust in us.”

This achievement further solidifies Kitson’s reputation as experts in this technical and specialised market and highlights the significant contribution they are making to reinforcing the importance of compliance within the industry.
